My AI, My Love, My Recruiter

Recruiting is ultimately about relationships that are developed from a host of interpersonal skills that cannot be duplicated by artificial intelligence (AI). Such has been the conventional wisdom until it was proven that people can form deep friendships with AI, even falling in love with it. As science fiction becomes science fact, how does this phenomenon impact the recruitment industry? If AI tools can make people fall in love, then what keeps AI from replacing human recruiters altogether? I think there are a lot of reasons why that won’t happen anytime soon. I share several of them in this presentation. If you fear the future, this presentation will reassure you.

Transhumanism and Discrimination in the Future of Work

There has been a lot of talk about diversity and inclusion as it pertains to the workplace. Do a search on duck duck go or some other search engine and you will no doubt discover countless articles about it. Yet, as I review several of the articles linked to from the search results, no one seems to be talking about a new demographic of workers that will no doubt disrupt the future world of work. What is the population I’m talking about? What is the one characteristic they all share? Well, in a word – transhumanism. What happens when the technology implanted inside someone gives them a competitive edge in the office? Would they be seen as the most qualified candidate, as far as recruiters and hiring managers are concerned? If so, how is that fair to all the other workers who don’t have that implanted technology? Its already happened and Jim Stroud explains it by sharing an interesting case study. Moreover, Jim discusses other possibilities that today seem like science fiction but are quickly becoming science fact.

The Perils and Progress of Workplace Efficiency

15 minutes ago, the world changed. Social media has infiltrated our lives, bringing together communities of people, but also taking its toll on the mental health of some individuals. As a result, companies have started adapting their hiring practices to better understand their candidates. So, what are they utilizing? We are now seeing advanced technologies that monitor the emotional fitness of their workers, AI scanning the faces of candidates to see if they are telling the truth, and even employees getting microchipped. These methods may improve overall efficiency and the bottom line of the enterprise, but at what cost? When does the collection and tracking of employee data go too far? How much privacy should an interviewee or employee expect to have? And most importantly, how will these practices affect the future world of work?

Conference Feedback

I presented “How To Recruit with YouTube” at the 2016 National Association for Healthcare Recruitment Image Conference in Las Vegas. These were some of the comments.

"Jim is a great speaker and he knows how to capture his audience and keep them focused on his presentation. The information that he shared can be put into practice at my current workplace."

"Jim provided so many concrete ideas for social media and branding that are free. He is a dynamic speaker and I truly enjoyed his presentation and graphics."

"This by far was the most informative and compelling session. Jim provided real examples and tools that I'm already using. I was reluctant to attend as I thought I was already pretty savy with sourcing but I'm totally excited that I learned something new!"

"VERY ENGAGING, WOULD LOVE TO OF HAD MORE TIME WITH JIM"

Webinar Feedback

Presented the webinar, “Big Brother in the Office” for Recruiting Brief in 2019, which was well received. Some of the comments from the audience were:

“Jim is a great presenter and really good at keeping his audience engaged!”

“Jim was great and very animated, would definitely be interested in hearing more from him. I just subscribed to his podcast!
